Distillation Labware

Distillation is a process used widely in the laboratory or in wider working environments for separating or purifying liquids or liquid mixtures based on the different boiling points of individual components.
Distillation Applications:
• Separation and purification of miscible liquid mixtures in organic chemistry
• Drying of solid residues and/or solvent removal
• Fractional distillation of liquids from polymers and petroleum products
• Removal of particulates or other solid contaminants
• As part of a water purification system for production of distilled water for laboratory use
• Specialist steam distillation-based applications such as Kjeldahl analysis of nitrogen and proteins in food, beverage, or environmental samples
What Types of Distillation Equipment Are Available?
Conventional distillation apparatus, typically comprising individual, jointed borosilicate glassware components assembled by the user (depending upon the application), using appropriate clamps, stands, and supports. Most conventional distillation assemblies combine a round-bottomed distilling flask to contain and heat the liquid(s) that require purification, fitted with a stoppered or jointed neck to which is attached a downward-sloping, inclined side-arm for connection to a condensing unit to cool the heated vapors back down to their liquid state. Heating mantles are the preferred heat source for improved temperature control. These conventional distillation units are also available supplied complete and ready-assembled for added convenience and ease of use.
Specialized automated distillation equipment, notably units designed for the determination of volatile acidity and alcoholic strength by volume in wines, musts, and alcoholic beverages, and units designed for Kjeldahl nitrogen or protein determinations.

Distilling Receiver, 5mL, Moisture Test, Barrett, 14/20 Joint Size, 2mm PTFE Stopcock , Approx. 205mm Height x 65mm Width. Barrett style distilling receiver used to determine the water content in petroleum or bituminous material. Receiver is made according to ASTM specifications, with the addition of the top outer standard taper joint and lower stopcock. The 2mL has sub-divisions of 0.02mL; the 5ml has subdivisions of 0.20mL; 10ml has subdivisions of 0.1mL; the 20mL has subdivisions of 0.2 from 0 to 3mL and 0.5 from 3 to 20mL. Available with glass or PTFE stopcocks.

24/40 jointed short path still. Extension tube from still body allows positioning of drop directly over receiver flask. Gas inlet tube is positioned in the distillation flask with an ACE 5028 adapter and secured with a #7 Ace-Thred. Thermometer joint is 10/30. Complete system consists of 500mL distillation flask, still body, cow receiver, gas inlet tube, threaded adapter, 3 250mL receiver flasks and a thermometer.

Hach Company GAS BUBBLER, MDM DIFFUSION TUBE
Designed for use with the General Purpose Distillation Apparatus. Round bottom, 500 mL capacity. Long neck with branch and thermometer port. Neck extends 90 mm above flask body and branch extends 150 mm above flask body. Both neck and branch have 20-400 screw-thread finish. Thermometer port has 13-425 screw-thread finish.
